2011 Amati (Refinished and updated in 2023)
In 2023 I restored an Amati archtop, which I originally made for myself in 2011. I used this guitar to show people my work, including Julian Lage, Adrien Moignard, George Petit, and many others. The guitar developed a truss rod buzz years later and I was never comfortable selling it because of this, so I decided to fix it. I stripped the original dark finish, removed the fingerboard, replaced the truss rod, made a new stiffer fingerboard, installed one of my new modern tailpiece saddles, refinished the guitar with an oil varnish and made all new fittings. The guitar plays like a dream with the very sweet, warm voice it originally had. The guitar gives me vibes of an older guitar but with a lot of sensibility, balance, and clarity. The guitar responds very well to player dynamics.
