Hand Made Guitars by Luthier Dan Koentopp

A Golden Blue Line

Here’s a Blue Line that flew the nest early Fall of 2016. Like most of my instruments, this instrument was tailored around my client. We talked over many months about certain aspects including tone, measurement specifications, and color. The end result was a beautiful representation of energy, absorbed from multiple sources, uniting with complete focus and a living voice.

As every instrument gets finished it is hard to see them go. I can’t help but think about how each particular instrument is going to sound and feel further down the road. That idea makes me a little jealous as I won’t be able to observe and watch these living instruments change. There is always a point in the build, about when the guitar is 75-80% finished when the guitar feels like it has become the owner’s guitar. I guess that moment is when all the pieces have joined together more or less and the instrument is eager to share its voice. I look forward to staying in touch with all my instruments and I can’t wait to visit this particular Blue Line in the near future!
