Andrew Downing is a well respected composer, a bassist and cellist from Toronto. The way Andrew sees music intertwines many genres from Chamber music to jazz to folk music. Roddy Ellias is one of Canada’s legendary jazz guitarists but is also well established in the New Music scene. Striving for beauty Roddy embodies these two worlds in his playing and composing. Petr Cancura is a multi-instrumentalist well versed in bluegrass, folk, jazz and improvised music out of which he has created his own voice, his own stories to tell. What all three musicians share is a thrill of the search for something authentic and real. This meeting in the hills of the Gatineau Hills recorded in a beautiful sounding, wood-laced studio by Ross Murray is available for your enjoyment.” (https://downingcancuraellias.bandcamp.com/album/trekan)

credits

released July 30, 2016

Petr Cancura – Clarinet
Andrew Downing – Cello
Roddy Ellias – Guitar

TREKAN by Andrew Downing – Petr Cancura – Roddy Ellias

Here is a video of Roddy’s 2011 Custom Blue Line

Koentopp Blueline from Dan Koentopp on Vimeo.

Trekan is an album full of beautiful compositions that toy with playfulness, calmness, and at times a little chaos.
